Donna Thomas

Mixed Media

Having been involved with horses most of her life and and her close connection to her equine friends is true inspiration behind Donna Thomas' depiction of these beautiful animals.  Donna began painting horses a little over a year ago and is largely self-taught in this area.  Since that time, she has been featured in Horse in Art Magazine and invited to donate works to a number of equine charitable events thoughout the U.S.  Her works include oil, palette knife and photo encaustic representations of equestrian portraits and scenes. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Donna attended the School of Fine Arts at the University of Georgia and has studied under the direction of Philip Carpenter, Jason McGrady, Marc Chatov and Pandra Williams of Atlanta, John de le Vega and Angela Nesbit of NC, Halima Washington of San Francisco and has attended demonstrations by nationally recognized artist Daniel Greene.  Donna considers herself cross-disciplined as she works with a variety of mediums.  Her work style ranges from representational to abstract.  She enjoys sepia and black and white photography with encaustic.
