Encaustic Painting Workshop

    Donna Thomas, owner and instructor of The Art school in Sandy Springs in Atlanta, Georgia and co-author of "A Studio Guide to Creating Encaustic Art" will visit the Lookout Mountain Gallery on Saturday September 12th to conduct a one day workshop in encaustic painting.  The workshop will including demo and instruction.  All wax medium materials and equipment will be supplied.  Students should bring no more than three (3) non-gessoed cradled wooden panels ranging in sizes from 8 x 8 to 12 x 12 - no larger.  Workshop will include:  1) instruction in how to prime a wooden panel, 2) application and fusion of layers of encaustic medium, 3) application of color, 4) demo in how to create texture, 5) demo of photoencaustic, 6) safety precautions.  
 
Workshop will be held outdoors, weather permitting.

Art Café
Tuesday nights from 6:00 – 8:30pm
An evening of art instruction, wine, coffee, and
treats for beginners and seasoned artists alike

Art Café will be taught and facilitated by
Chattanooga artist Traci Batchelor Paden
At The Lookout Mountain Gallery


First Art Café will be offered on
Sept 22 at a special rate of $30
which includes all supplies, wine, coffee, and light snacks.
We will create silk paintings that reflect nature and organic rhythms


The first 6 week session will begin Sept 29, 2009 and continue through Nov 3, 2009.
We will explore color and design through
various media including
Acrylic, silk dye and paint, watercolor, and pastels
The second session will be held Tuesdays
Nov 10 – Dec 15, 2009
We will focus on contemporary craft and design; explore and create functional art objects


You choose the option that is right for you.
Take all 6 classes for $35 each ($210 total) when you pre-register
Take any 4 classes for $40 each ($160 total) when you pre-register
Or take one class at a time for $45 per class (one day notice preferred)
